A recent study by ASSOCHAM¬cKinetics, noted that India is emerging as one of the world's major electronic waste generators and is likely to grow from the current level of 18 lakh metric tonnes to 52 lakh metric tonnes (MT) per annum by 2020, growing at a CAGR of about 30%. Karnataka in particular Bengaluru being the IT Capital of the country also is the 3rd largest producer of e-Waste. With change in e-Waste disposal rules effective from 1st Oct 2016 as set by CPCB, it is mandate of each and every enterprise to clear up the waste in accordance CPCB compliance.
 
In another of its first,Government Of Karnataka takes initiative for a “e-Waste free Karnataka”. It has assigned KEONICS as nodal agency for collection and disposal of e-Waste.
